Education Leadership and Innovation Forum (ELIF), 9-11 July 2014 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

One of the core module activities of SEAMEO College, Module 3 or ELIF will be organised and conducted in July 2014 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. A comprehensive concept note and provisional agenda was developed by SEAMEO RETRAC.

SEAMEO RETRAC as the lead centre will convene a Forum designed for administrators and practitioners of primary, secondary and tertiary education in Southeast Asia Region. The ELIF forum for year one implementation consists of three themes namely: (1) Framework of 21st Century Learning and Life Skills; (2) Innovative Teaching and Learning Methods; and (3) School and Community-Based Innovation and Good Practices. The three main themes were designed to cater toward and prepare administrators and practitioners across all education levels to become rigorous and excellent, 21st century future leaders in the Southeast Asia region. The module will utilise a blended learning approach through a combination of face-to-face and online learning modalities.

The overall objective of the ELIF Forum is to acquaint all participants with current best practices and innovative approaches to teaching and learning and to provide a venue for sharing participant experiences in education under the three main themes.  Other important outputs are to establish a mechanism to maintain an on-going “learning community” focused on innovation in teaching and learning among participants, and to establish a network of education administrators and practitioners for sharing innovative teaching approaches in the region.

It is expected that at the end of the ELIF forum, the participants will have gained resilient skills and a culture of creativity and innovation in teaching and learning approaches, which are responsive to the region-wide issues within the ASEAN community, and generating for the Southeast Asian region an innovative and robust future leadership for the 21st century.
