The Development of the Concept and Project Design of SEAMEO College

SEAMEO College is a product of two years of consultation and content development. The concept of the project was presented to two successive meetings of SEAMEO High Officials in 2012 and 2013, and three meetings of the SEAMEO Executive Committee on the same years. Series of consultations with various stakeholders including Member Countries, Associate and Affiliate Members, SEAMEO Centres, partner organizations and other groups started in May 2011 until January 2013 when the SEAMEO Council members unanimously approved the project.

Discussions and meetings with SEAMEO high officials and other SEAMEO stakeholders generated significant input to the development of the project concept and design. Virtual and face-to-face consultations with SEAMEO Centres were held from March to May 2012 focusing on how to effectively incorporate the comments of the SEAMEO high officials to the concept of SEAMEO College. Most consultations were initiated by the SEAMEO Secretariat. An interim project
management committee composed of eight Centre Directors was constituted in April 2012 to assist in this process. This body has been institutionalized and now forms part of the project implementation structure.
